5.1 Introduction
1. To proceed with the MCED‐100 MetaCarrier® Embedding Device’s Serial‐based Remote Product Management,
assumptionsaremadethat:
• TheMCED‐100isoperatingwiththelatestversionfirmwarefiles.
• TheMCED‐100isconnectedtoauser‐supplied,Windows‐basedPC,and:
o ThePC’sserialportiscon
nectedtotheMCED‐100’sserial‘CONSOLE’portwithauser‐suppliedserialcable.
o The PC’s Ethernet port is connected to the MCED‐100’s ‘ETHERNET MANAGEMENT’ RJ‐45 10/100 BaseT Fast
Ethernetportwithauser‐suppliedhub,switch,ordirectEthernetcableconnection.
o The PC is ru
nning a terminal emulation program (for operation of the MCED‐100 Serial Interface) and a
compatibleWebbrowser(foroperationoftheMCED‐100WebServerInterface).
• TheMCED‐100’sManagementIPAddresshasbeennotedusingtheMCED‐100SerialInterface.
Note that, while use of the serial por
t connection/Serial Interface is required only for initial configuration of the
‘ETHERNETMANAGEMENT’port,itisalsousefulforfirmwareupdatingoperations.
